HOF047: NGUYEN Huyen Chau

NGUYEN Huyen Chau, ses deux fils et trois frères ont fui le Vietnam la journée avant la chute de Saigon. Ils ont été transportés par avion du toit de leur maison par un hélicoptère exploité par son mari, un pilote de l'armée de l'air vietnamienne. L'hélicoptère a réussi à atterrir sur un porte-avions américain de la 7e flotte qui patrouillait alors en mer. Une fois l'hélicoptère atterri, les marines américains ont poussé le véhicule dans la mer. Le navire a navigué vers Guam où la famille est restée pendant 3 jours. Finalement, les Américains les ont emmenés au Camp Pendleton en Californie où ils ont demandé à émigrer au Canada. Ils sont arrivés à Regina, en Saskatchewan, le 7 juillet 1975, sous le parrainage du gouvernement canadien. Trois mois plus tard, ils se sont installés à Calgary, en Alberta. Ils ont vécu à Calgary de 1975 à 1993, après quoi son mari a été transféré pour travailler à Montréal, au Québec.^th Fleet Air Craft Carrier which was at that time patrolling at sea.  Once the helicopter landed, American marines pushed the vehicle into the sea. The ship sailed to Guam where the family stayed for 3 days. Eventually, the Americans flew them to Camp Pendleton in California where they applied to migrate to Canada. They arrived in Regina, Saskatchewan on July 7, 1975 under the sponsorship of the Canadian government. Three months later, they settled in Calgary, Alberta. They lived in Calgary from 1975 to 1993, after that, her husband was transferred to work in Montréal, Québec.
