Hearts of Freedom Exhibition at Manitoba Museum

The Manitoba Museum proudly presents “Hearts of Freedom: Stories of Southeast Asian Refugees,” a pop-up exhibition showcasing the harrowing yet inspiring stories of Southeast Asian refugees who fled to Canada between 1975 and 1985 due to conflicts like the Vietnam War. This unique exhibition, curated by Dr. Stephanie Phetsamay Stobbe, offers a profound look into their journeys and integration into Canadian society. The exhibition is open to the public from January 5 to April 7, 2024, at the Museum’s Festival Hall, with an official opening event on January 19, 2024. Note to Researchers

A consent form was signed by each of the interviewees whose videos are posted here on the website. They have each consented to making the video available to the public and they have consented to the use of the contents of their videos by the Hearts of Freedom project researchers. Once this book is available researchers will have the opportunity to review it and to refer to it for research purposes.
