S'approchant de la Malaisie apr\u00e8s un voyage de cinq jours, les r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s ont re\u00e7u l'ordre des garde-c\u00f4tes de faire demi-tour et de se diriger ailleurs, car les camps de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s malaisiens \u00e9taient encombr\u00e9s. Cette nuit-l\u00e0, le capitaine a pris la d\u00e9cision audacieuse de se rapprocher le plus possible du rivage puis de d\u00e9truire son bateau. Trinh avait trop peur de sauter du bateau, alors sa m\u00e8re a d\u00fb l\u2019attraper et la jeter dans l'oc\u00e9an.<\/p>\n<p>La famille finirait par s'\u00e9tablir \u00e0 Lethbridge, en Alberta, pour vivre avec sa tante. Occupant plusieurs emplois tout en poursuivant des cours d'Anglais langue seconde et des cours pour le recyclage de leurs comp\u00e9tences, les parents de Trinh ont finalement r\u00e9ussi \u00e0 \u00e9conomiser suffisamment de fonds pour parrainer, un par un, un grand nombre membres de sa famille \u00e0 Lethbridge.<\/p>\n<div class=\"videowrapper\"><iframe class=\"video\"
