Ils ont construit un radeau afin de traverser le fleuve M\u00e9kong infest\u00e9 de crocodiles et de se retrouver pris dans les diktats des autorit\u00e9s tha\u00eflandaises.Pendant ce temps, ils ont donn\u00e9 naissance \u00e0 une fille qu'ils ont nomm\u00e9e Samnang (chanceux en anglais). Toute la famille tomberait bient\u00f4t malade. Ils n\u2019avaient pas acc\u00e8s \u00e0 des soins m\u00e9dicaux ni \u00e0 des m\u00e9dicaments. Quatre des six enfants ont donc perdu la vie en l'espace de trois semaines.<\/p>\n<p>Quand ils sont arriv\u00e9s dans le camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s, la famille a eu du mal \u00e0 s\u2019adapter \u00e0 la retraite surpeupl\u00e9e qui offrait des ressources limit\u00e9es aux r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s. La famille a tent\u00e9 \u00e0 plusieurs reprises d'obtenir le statut de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s de diff\u00e9rentes autorit\u00e9s de l'immigration dans le camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s, mais ses tentatives ont \u00e9chou\u00e9. Finalement, ils ont rencontr\u00e9 des agents d'immigration canadiens qui ont approuv\u00e9 leur demande d'immigration au Canada.
