En tant que jeune fille, elle avait vite mis fin \u00e0 ses \u00e9tudes afin d'aider sa m\u00e8re \u00e0 prendre soin de ses fr\u00e8res et s\u0153urs. Plus tard, elle a rencontr\u00e9 et \u00e9pous\u00e9 un soldat laotien au milieu des ann\u00e9es 1970. Le couple a eu quatre enfants.<\/p>\n<p>Suite au bouleversement social au Laos, son mari \u00e0 quitt\u00e9 la famille et a pu rejoindre le camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s de Nong Khai en Tha\u00eflande. Khouanta est rest\u00e9e au Laos pendant un an avec ses quatre enfants.
