Il a servi son pays pendant la guerre du Vietnam. Apr\u00e8s la chute de Sa\u00efgon en 1975, il a \u00e9t\u00e9 contraint de fuir son pays, craignant de graves repr\u00e9sailles. Il s'est \u00e9chapp\u00e9 en laissant derri\u00e8re lui sa femme et ses enfants.<\/p>\n<p>Il a d\u00e9crit son \u00e9vasion du Vietnam comme une exp\u00e9rience terrible. Il a pass\u00e9 plusieurs jours dans un bateau bond\u00e9 de plus de 1 500 r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s. Le bateau a finalement atterri aux Philippines o\u00f9 il est rest\u00e9 dans un camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s en attendant d'avoir l'occasion de migrer au Canada.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois install\u00e9 \u00e0 Winnipeg, Van Ba Nguyen a tent\u00e9 de parrainer l\u2019\u00e9tablissement de sa famille au Canada.
