Tr\u00e8s jeune, lui et sa famille ont d\u00e9m\u00e9nag\u00e9 \u00e0 Vientienne, la capitale du Laos. Jeune homme, il a rencontr\u00e9 et \u00e9pous\u00e9 Vatsana en 1977.<\/p>\n<p>Noulath travaillait pour le d\u00e9partement de lagriculture du gouvernement laotien. Alors quil vivait avec son \u00e9pouse les bouleversements \u00e9conomiques et politiques survenus dans leur pays dorigine, ils craignaient pour leur avenir. Avec laide de sa belle-m\u00e8re, ils se sont arrang\u00e9s pour fuir le pays. Le couple est parti avec la s\u0153ur de Vatsana au milieu de la nuit. Ils ont gard\u00e9s secret, leurs projets de partir. Les trois \u00e9vad\u00e9s ont conduit un v\u00e9hicule jusquau M\u00e9kong. Ils sont rest\u00e9s cach\u00e9s dans une petite cabane au milieu d\u2019une rizi\u00e8re pendant la nuit. Le lendemain, ils ont obtenu un petit bateau et ont travers\u00e9 le fleuve en direction de la Tha\u00eflande.<\/p>\n<p>Une fois arriv\u00e9s sur les c\u00f4tes tha\u00eflandaises, ils ont march\u00e9 pendant plus d\u2019une heure avant de trouver une maison isol\u00e9e. Les occupants les ont accueillis pour la nuit. Le lendemain, ils ont march\u00e9 encore 2 heures pour se rendre en ville o\u00f9 ils ont rencontr\u00e9 la police locale qui les a emprisonn\u00e9s temporairement pour avoir entrer ill\u00e9galement dans le pays. Ils ont \u00e9t\u00e9 envoy\u00e9s au camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s de Nong Khai o\u00f9 ils sont rest\u00e9s deux ans.<\/p>\n<p>Pendant leur s\u00e9jour dans le camp, ils ont demand\u00e9 le statut de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9 aupr\u00e8s de nombreux pays. Ils ont finalement rencontr\u00e9 des agents d'immigration canadiens qui leur ont accord\u00e9 l'asile au Canada. Ils sont rest\u00e9s trois mois dans un camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s \u00e0 Bangkok et ont ensuite \u00e9t\u00e9 transport\u00e9s par avion \u00e0 Edmonton (Alberta) en octobre 1979.<\/p>\n<p>Noulath et sa famille ont \u00e9t\u00e9 parrain\u00e9s lors de leur premi\u00e8re installation au Canada. Il a trouv\u00e9 un emploi, poursuivi ses \u00e9tudes et obtenu un emploi dans le secteur de la haute technologie. La famille a obtenu la citoyennet\u00e9 canadienne en 1983. Ils sont rest\u00e9s d\u00e9termin\u00e9s \u00e0 soutenir la communaut\u00e9 laotienne dans la r\u00e9gion d\u2019Ottawa.<\/p>\n<div class=\"videowrapper\"><iframe class=\"video\"
