Elle \u00e9tait assez \u00e2g\u00e9e pour se souvenir des difficult\u00e9s que sa famille a v\u00e9cues au Vietnam. Sa m\u00e8re est devenue veuve apr\u00e8s la disparition de son p\u00e8re, pr\u00e9sum\u00e9 mort pendant la guerre. La m\u00e8re de Nhung avait \u00e0 peine amass\u00e9 assez d\u2019argent en tant que couturi\u00e8re et vendeuse de fruits pour nourrir ses six enfants. Gr\u00e2ce au soutien d\u2019un oncle, la famille a fui le Vietnam et est arriv\u00e9e dans un camp de r\u00e9fugi\u00e9s en Malaisie en 1978. La famille \u00e9tait parrain\u00e9e par la congr\u00e9gation de l\u2019\u00c9glise catholique Our Lady of Mercy \u00e0 Enoch, \u00e0 l\u2019ouest d\u2019Edmonton, en Alberta. La gentillesse et la compassion dont elle a fait preuve envers sa famille ont laiss\u00e9 une marque ind\u00e9l\u00e9bile dans son c\u0153ur. Aujourd'hui, Tran-Davies est m\u00e9decin de famille et philanthrope. Elle a \u00e9t\u00e9 nomm\u00e9e l'une des 50 personnes les plus influentes par une revue d'affaires. Elle continue \u00e0 attribuer toutes ses r\u00e9alisations \u00e0 la chaleur et au soutien qu'elle et sa famille ont re\u00e7us pendant leurs premiers mois dans leur nouvelle
