HOF120: Père Pierre Dufour
Father Pierre Dufour entered the community of the Fathers of Sainte-Croix and, having studied theology in the city of Mans in France, he was ordained a Roman catholic priest on September 15, 1962.
During his priesthood, he was responsible for the collegial ministry. He was a professor of the history of religions, an educational counsellor in moral and a religious education, and a counsellor in Christian education. He was also responsible for the Pastoral Unit of Saint-Laurent including parishes in the Montréal region.
From 1985 to 1995, with the support of his colleagues from the Fathers of the Sainte-Croix community, he managed a Reception House for immigrants and newcomer refugees on boulevard de l’Acadie and rue Barré. During these ten years, he pledged to help several young Vietnamese people who wished to settle in the Montréal region. In addition to his commitment to the Reception House, from 1986 to 1995, he was Chairman of the Board of Directors of the “Organisme Promis”, an organization that is devoted to the reception and support of refugees in Montréal
Father Dufour is currently working at Saint Joseph’s Oratory as a pastoral counsellor.
